Shunkoin – This must be one (if not THE) most underrated fragrance from the house. It’s nothing new, it’s been around for nearly a decade, and I absolutely love it💙. It belongs to the JTC or “Join The Club” collection which consists of 10 virtual clubs where each one is represented by a fragrance, and the whole concept behind is that each bottle comes with an ID card that will allow the owner to join a real club with people who also own that particular fragrance.
Shunkoin represents the meditation club, and this is exactly what this fragrance is: a very calming, soothing, and Zen type of scent.
The notes aren’t disclosed, they’re meant to kept secret so I can only give you my perception of the notes and accords: an ultra feminine, slightly gourmand, very powdery, floral, woodsy, creamy scent with a lot of presence.
To me this gorgeous perfume by Xerjoff has vanilla, probably orris root, and sandalwood because I can pick a woody note, and a lot of buttery creaminess probably due to the magical concoction of orris and sandalwood. There’s also something very cozy about this fragrance and I think it could be musk, Ambrette seeds, Cashmeran, and/or Benzoin (which is a resinous substance with a vanilic type of scent used in perfumery to add sweetness, to prolong longevity, and, as a stabilizer) which also provides a cozy type of feeling when you smell it.
It’s a very safe option if you like feminine, creamy, and powdery scents. It’s one of those creamy, milky perfumes we crave when we need comfort, very inoffensive, perfect for day or night time.
I get around 6 hours out of it, projection is moderate, and it has a beautiful sillage for the first couple hours; (a cottony, powdery type of trail that I love) and it certainly is a crowd pleaser, elegant, an all year round type of scent. Signature scent worthy❓Absolutely, 💯 % signature scent worthy.
